Why Ollie’s Sichuan Chinese Restaurant Stands Out
Authentic Flavor Profiles: The kitchen prioritizes the use of traditional Sichuan peppercorns and dried chilies to achieve the signature "mala" sensation—a unique combination of numbing and spicy flavors that is the hallmark of the region's culinary identity.
Strategic Location: Situated in the heart of Manhattan at 411 W 42nd St, the restaurant offers a convenient stop for theater-goers and professionals working in the area, providing a reliable option for authentic Chinese food in a highly accessible part of the city.
Diverse Menu Selection: The menu is carefully curated to offer a wide range of options, from comforting noodle dishes and hearty soups to more complex stir-fried specialties, ensuring that there is something to suit various preferences and dietary needs.
Consistent Quality: By focusing on fresh ingredients and time-honored preparation methods, the restaurant maintains a standard of quality that keeps patrons returning, emphasizing a consistent dining experience that respects the integrity of Sichuan gastronomy.
Beyond the specific dishes served, the essence of Ollie’s Sichuan Chinese Restaurant lies in its ability to create a sense of community. The dining room is structured to facilitate conversation, allowing guests to slow down and appreciate the nuances of their food. The staff is dedicated to providing attentive service, ensuring that every guest feels welcome from the moment they step through the doors. As the culinary landscape of New York continues to evolve, establishments like Ollie’s remain vital by staying true to their roots while serving the diverse population of the city.
For those looking to explore the depth of Sichuan cuisine without leaving the center of New York, Ollie’s provides a genuine and approachable experience. It is more than just a place to eat; it is a destination that celebrates the art of Chinese cooking through a lens of tradition and hospitality. Whether you are a long-time fan of spicy Sichuan dishes or someone looking to broaden your culinary horizons, a visit to this Midtown location offers a meaningful taste of Chengdu right in the middle of the Big Apple.

Ordered lunch special Fillet Hot Bean. It was delicious! Sweet spicy. Spicy level is very friendly for ppl who can’t eat spicy. Baby spinach at the bottom, very tender and tastes very good with the fish! Comes with rice & soup (or one soft drink) Highly recommend. More

Typical chinese take-out. We expected more given how the place looks and how big it is. It was ok for takeout but nothing more. Very oily food and very spicy so keep that in mind. Got a little sick after eating as well... all very much in … More

I have both dined in and gotten food to go from Ollie’s. Everything is always hot, fresh, flavorful and delicious. Their staff are nice and everything is always very quick. Prices are very reasonable, especially for their lunch special. I tried the double cooked bacon and their mapo tofu- both absolutely delicious. I highly recommend Ollie’s. I ordered sichuan dishes and not “American Chinese dishes” so I can’t comment on those.

Yesterday, I stopped by with friends and had a wonderful meal. Every dish we ordered was delicious. The mapo tofu was especially outstanding. I also highly recommend the eggplant dish. We enjoyed everything even more with some Tsingtao beer and had a great time together. More

The city howled at us that night, a cold, unforgiving New York that crept through Patagonia coat, full grain leather, and human spirit alike. We had crawled from Connecticut sustained by coffee and conversations, and by the time Manhattan … More

I got the mouth watering chicken and it was okay. I was warned about how spicy it was, so I was excited, but it turned out being just a hint of spice and very oily. The chicken was cooked well, though— not dry or overcooked at all, very tender. Just wish there was more Sichuan pepper spice in it. More

Came here prior to a show across the street. Seated quickly, service was super quick, the food was delicious! The best chicken and broccoli I’ve ever had, spare ribs were great. Fried rice was good, soup dumplings were not my favorite but they seemed homemade for sure and required 15 minutes to cook! My only down fall was how horrendous the bathrooms were. Clean bathrooms are important and they were really unkempt and not clean at all.

We ordered the orange chicken, it took a while to get our food and when we did it was luke warm. Great flavor though! Waiter was nice but when I entered the lady said " go anywhere", we got moved, so staff could sit for their break, and they took long to take our order. More
